DiXiM DTCP-IP SDK
DiXiM DTCP-IP SDK Accelerating Developments Of DTCP-IP Enabled Devices
- DiXiM DTCP-IP SDK
- In addition to the support for DTCP-IP 1.1, a mandatory technology for steaming distribution of Japanese digital broadcasting programs on a home network, DiXiM DTCP-IP SDK also supports DTCP-IP 1.2 that enables content move. DTCP-IP 1.2’s Source and Sink devices are both supported. By using DiXiM DTCP-IP SDK with DiXiM DMS SDK, developers can develop server devices supporting DTCP-IP streaming distribution and DTCP-IP move transmission. Furthermore, combining DiXiM UPnP SDK with DiXiM DTCP-IP SDK enables development of player and renderer devices that support DTCP-IP streaming distribution and devices compatible with DTCP-IP move. The encryption engine supports both hardware and software.

DTCP-IP support is a must for DLNA compatible products sold in Japan. DigiOn provides its software and a software development kit (DTCP-IP SDK) for embedding purposes and PCs to create DTCP-IP enabled server and player. DiXiM DTCP-IP SDK has been adopted by manufactures' products as well as DigiOn's DTCP-IP enabled products developed in-house, and boasts its great deal of achievements as a DTCP-IP stack. Sample Use Cases Using DTCP-IP
DTCP-IP Streaming Distribution
To stream and distribute Japanese digital broadcasting programs or premium content, content that requires copyright protection, on a DLNA home network, DTCP-IP support is necessary for both server and player devices. The support allows users to play content elsewhere on their home networks. DiXiM Digital TV Series can be used as a DTCP-IP enabled player by installing it to a PC.
DTCP-IP enabled AV home appliances and PCs are already sold in Japan.
Examples of DTCP-IP Enabled Servers:
Video recorder, PC that incorporates a TV tuner, and NAS (network-connected hard disk)
Examples of DTCP-IP Enabled Players:
TV, digital media adaptor, PC, and PC software
DTCP-IP Move/Copy
To copy or move content data requiring copyright protection between devices, DTCP-IP move/copy must be supported by both content data’s transmitter and receiver. A device that is capable of recording digital broadcasting programs encrypts and transmits the recorded data, and a receiver saves it. If a receiver device has a server feature, it can also stream and distribute moved/copied content.
The following DTCP-IP move/copy enabled devices are sold in Japan, and more expected to come:
Examples of DTCP-IP Move/Copy Source Devices:
Toshiba Regza series (some products expected), DiXiM Media Server for mAgicTV (server software for PCs), and I-O DATA DEVICES LAN DISK AV series (network-connected hard disk)
Examples of DTCP-IP Move/Copy Sink Devices:
I-O DATA DEVICES LAN DISK AV series (network-connected hard disk), and more.
