DigiOn Begins Sales of "DiXiM Digital TV plus",
Multifunction DTCP-IP Enabled Network Media Player Software

Fukuoka, Japan – DigiOn has announced the launch of DiXiM Digital TV plus, an advanced edition of their network media player DiXiM Digital TV, which supports DTCP-IP, a popular copyright protection technology. Sales will begin December 22nd, 2009 via sales agencies.

As with the well-reputed DiXiM Digital TV launched in July this year, DiXiM Digital TV plus allows users to watch digital broadcasting programs recorded with devices enabling for DTCP-IP streaming distribution, such as video recorders, PCs, and PC peripherals, on PCs located anywhere in their homes.

DiXiM Digital TV plus also supports content playback of SKY PerfecTV! HD Recording™, a service that began in August, 2009. SKY PerfecTV! HD programs (including radio programs and rated content) recorded on recorder devices enabing SKY PerfecTV! HD Recording™ can be viewed on PCs anywhere throughout the home. (*1)

DiXiM Digital TV plus can not only play recorded digital broadcasting programs, but it can also stream and play back video, photo, and music files stored on PCs or network attached storage (NAS). (*2)
In addition to the player functionality, digital media controller (DMC) and digital media renderer (DMR (supporting digital broadcasting programs)) features are newly implemented.
Using DiXiM Digital TV plus's DMC feature allows users to play photos saved on their NAS or PCs on big-screen TVs that are compatible with DMR. 

DiXiM Digital TV plus supports a wide range of operating system from the latest OS Windows 7, back to Windows XP and Windows Vista.

  • Supports the playback of a wide variety of music, photo, and video files.*
  • Digital media controller (DMC) and digital media renderer (DMR) functionality included, enabling the support of DCP-IP compatible recorded digital broadcasting programs.*
  • Supports H.264/AVC and MPEG-2 PS formats used in video recorders' long-play mode, in addition to the MPEG-2 TS format used for directly recorded digital broadcasting programs.
  • Calendar view, switchable between month, week, and day displays, allows users to check their lists of recorded programs just as with an EPG. Photos can be played back by event date.
  • Recorded programs can be filtered by a diverse set of criteria, such as by unviewed, genre, channel, date, day of the week, and time slot.
  • User preset search can be defined and reused by combining optional keys.*
  • Playback operations similar to video recorders, such as 30 second skip and 5 second review.
  • Related contents display feature, suitable for watching drama series or checking programs in which favorite actors appear, recommends other programs related to previously played programs.
  • Resume feature that restarts playback from where it was last stopped.
  • Operable with the Windows Media Center remote control.

The product has obtained logo certification
as a　SKY PerfecTV! HD Recording™ player.
*1　DiXiM Digital TV plus is the first product to obtain logo certification as a SKY PerfecTV! HD Recording™  content enabled network media player. (according to DigiOn research as of Dec. 11th, 2009)

Recorder devices compatible with SKY PerfecTV! HD Recording™must support network distribution for the streaming of SKY PerfecTV! HD programs by using the DMS (Digital Media Server) functionality. Additionally, the receiver, recorder and PC with DiXiM Digital TV plus installed must be connected on a routed network environment. 

*2　 These devices must be able to stream content over a home network using the digital media server (DMS) functionality. This product has been developed according to the DLNA Guidelines, standard specifications for home network interoperability, and can be connected with any manufacturer's DLNA certified products. Please note that the playback of copyright protected music is not supported.
