“DiXiM Media Server” adopted for “GV-MVP/Hx2 series”,
I-O DATA DEVICE’s terrestrial DTV capture device,
enabling DTCP-IP distribution and
DTCP-IP non-replicating transmission of recorded DTV contents.

Fukuoka, Japan – “DiXiM Media Server 3 for mAgicTV”, home network server software developed by DigiOn, has been adopted for the four products in the GV-MVP/Hx2 series of terrestrial digital TV capture devices sold by I-O DATA DEVICE, INC. The products launch Mar. 18th, 2009.

Using DTCP-IP technology, the “DiXiM Media Server 3 for mAgicTV” protects the contents of DTV programs recorded by the GV-MVP/H2 series and enables two features: a) streaming distribution to TVs supporting DTCP-IP for home networks or the DLNA Guidelines and b) DTCP-IP based non-replicating transmission for moving recorded digital contents to other server devices. In particular, the DTCP-IP non-replicating “move transmission” feature for PC software is the first of its kind implemented in Japan *1.

As players for streaming distribution, TVs or PCs with DTCP-IP and DLNA Guidelines support are sold by major CE device and PC manufacturers. The HVL4-G series, I-O DATA’s HD recording hard disk, is one of the destination devices that can be used in a DTCP-IP move transmission.

The GV-MVP/H2 series of add-on devices for playing and recording HD digital terrestrial broadcast programs on PC appeared on the market in December, 2008. For customers who already have these products, the “DiXiM Media Server 3 for mAgicTV” will be available free by download from the I-O DATA website.

DTCP-IP is a technical standard for transmitting DRM protected content within an IP network, such as a home LAN. The move transmission feature uses the new standard defined in DTCP-IP 1.2, and allows users to move recorded content data over home networks.

Mr. Yoshihisa Hirano, GM of I-O DATA’s development department, said:
“Bundling the “DiXiM Media Server 3 for mAgicTV” dramatically improves the usability of the GV-MVP/H2 series by enabling playback of TV contents recorded by the GV-MVP/H2 series on TVs or PCs that support DTCP-IP and DLNA Guidelines and the AV-LS500VX (I-O DATA’s network media player), while also allowing content copy and move to the HVL4-G series (I-O DATA’s HD recording hard disk). We are enhancing the GV-MVP/H2 series to meet customer needs as fast as possible with features such as editing of recorded programs and user created original BD/DVD. In adding to these enhancements, our achievement this time makes us firmly confident that customers will be satisfied with the GV-MVP/Hx2 series. We look forward to continuing to develop advanced PC and CE devices using DigiOn’s DiXiM solution.”
Mr. Hisatoshi Taura, president of DigiOn, said:
“Our DiXiM home network middleware products have been adopted by many manufactures and customers, and we are proud of their achievements and reliability. We are continuously making efforts to extend DiXiM and its related modules. It is our pleasure to contribute to the enhancement of I-O DATA DEVICE’s products by providing DTCP-IP technology. We hope that our DTCP-IP application and SDK products will be used to broaden the usage of DTV contents on the home network.”
